Bumming around the house

With Meghan gone this week on her North Carolina trip, it’s been somewhat challenging to keep my time at home from being a bore. Life is just better when you’re together I guess, to quote a Jack Johnson song. But the time at home by myself has also been a good chance to experience a change of pace in my normally hectic, busy life. I’ve had more time to do some of the things that always get crowded off the to-do list because they are not as urgent, like going for a run, practicing the piano, pulling up weeds and dead things in the flower beds, reading, and yes… even blogging! Today, after I got home from work, the thought hit me to go out and take some pictures of some of the flowers that have recently bloomed around our yard. I’m not usually much for taking photos of flowers since its so overdone (at art fairs for example), but I tried to be creative with it and appreciate the natural beauty that God gifted to each one. Here’s a few to share with y’all.

These pink lilies just bloomed a couple days ago back by our back patio... we've been waiting for weeks since we first saw the unopened buds

We were wondering whether this plant around our mailbox was a flower or a giant weed... the verdict: a flower!

Later on in the evening, I helped a couple from our small group, Nick and Jen, pick up a couch set from the furniture store and set it up in their family room. We had a great time together and they even provided me with Donatos pizza for dinner. One less meal to make for myself while Meghan’s gone. Thanks guys!

On to Saturday and a weekend where I have absolutely no plans and plan on keeping it that way.

  1. the flowers came!!! i hope they’re still around when i get back- they are all pretty! and i’m glad to see that you feel flower photos are way overdone as I post a bunch from biltmore 🙂 i love you!

  2. The flower around your mailbox is a Climatis. They grow in full sun and they are gorgeous. With a little care, your mailbox will be covered in blooms. Lucky you!
