Food, Family, and Football

This year Jeff and I hosted Thanksgiving at our house for the first time.  It was still small with only both sets of parents coming, but we still managed to come up with quite a feast!  We took care of the turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and rolls.  Moms brought corn, sweet potatoes, cheese ball (my fav and always my “dinner” the night of Thanksgiving), and an assortment of desserts.  Jeff and I had a bit of adventure with the turkey.  We pulled it out the night before and pulled out an assortment of things, then asking “Is this a giblet?”  They had been conveniently placed in a little bag for us, but I didn’t find the bag until the next morning when I looked in from the other side…  And the neck.  Weird.  We put it in our massive weekender cooler overnight with a brine that made the cooler smell like cooking meat, hopefully that goes away.  Then we watched some Alton Brown videos on trussing and carving and came up with a pretty good bird!

We made up a pretty table, laid out the spread, and dug in!  Then, we basically digested and watched football.  And looked at FL pics, which are coming soon!
