Well, the day has come. We are in the Crate. Going on 6 hours now. That’s 1/4 of the way done and we still have a long way to go. That’s where you come in. To recap, we have been locked in a 20 foot crate for 24 hours (we have come out to eat and do a service project) to raise money for 4 FAME projects. They are:
One of our first challenges was to do some biblical research about what brings us here today. I was struck by our mission of solidarity that we can somehow try to help our brothers and sisters in Christ on the other side of the world by being in this Crate, eating and sleeping simply for 24 hours. I implore you to take up this challenge with us.
Psalm 133.1: How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!
Acts 2.44-45: All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
Acts 4: 32-35: 32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. 33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. 34There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.
The challenges so far:
- So far this morning we helped box up food packages to send around the world. 25 cents will provide for one package to be sent. We challenge you to donate $25 to feed 100 families or $100 to feed 400! Check out the video:
- We also scoured the warehouse here at FAME and came up with the 3-legged wheelchair race. It was really fun and had a photo finish at the end. Heat 1: the girls, Heat 2: the guys, Finals: battle of the sexes. Make your wager on who will win in the end at give2thecrate.org! Here is a preview:
- The Colts Crate Challenge. We know that in about an hour and a half, everyone will be watching the Colts game and forget about us. That’s why we created this challenge. We suggest either $10/touchdown and $5/field goal or a matching donation for their final score. Check it out on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/meghankellymiller#!/event.php?eid=107494285980489&ref=mf. Go team!
Whew… that’s a lot! To break it all down. Go to give2thecrate.org to donate. You must select ‘Meghan Willig’ in the drop down to give it through our team. We are only in here for 24 hours so no waiting, second guessing or debating. Just do it! The children of the world (and our team of 5) will rejoice! And thank you in advance.
